Network
IPs
Reserve public or private IP addresses and attach them to whichever resource you choose, with nothing to reconfigure.
What IPs covers
Reserve before you use
A reserved address stays yours as long as you keep it, even once the resource that carried it is destroyed. Your DNS records and firewall rules therefore survive between two deployments.
Attach to any resource
The same address detaches from a virtual machine and attaches to a container, a load balancer, a Kubernetes cluster, a bastion or a VPN gateway. The change takes effect within seconds.
Public and private
Public addresses expose a service to the internet. Private addresses pin a resource inside your own network, which avoids depending on an automatic assignment that changes on restart.
